The Companions’ Group
The Companions’ Group is composed of university students and working people in the age of 20-40 years, primarily foreigners living in Denmark for a temporary period of time. We meet to share in friendship, faith in Jesus and spend time together. We also help other newcomers to Denmark to find a welcoming place where to live the good news of the Gospel. We all know how difficult and hard can be to live in a foreign country, without knowing customs, people and language, and how helpful it is to have a reference point for our social and spiritual life. At the moment we are around ten people but more than sixty people have joined the Companions since the beginning, less than ten years ago.
We meet in the Parish Hall of Saint Knud Lavard church two times a month (look at the church calender). We start with a relaxing coffee/tea together or a shared supper, followed by the formal meeting that involves different activities such as group prayer Gospel reading/sharing, movies with discussion, testimonies and talks on social and religious topics and so on. Past topics have been about relationships, marriage, Our Father prayer, fasting, figures of Saints, pilgrimage experiences, how Jesus heals, how to handle stress, and more.
In addition to the formal activities we also spend time together, as any group of friends does, for nights out, picnics, museum visits, bike trips and dinners. All news about our activities are posted and shared through our Companions Google group (http://groups.google.com/group/companions-lyngby) and the associated mailing list. You are welcome to visit the group, and if you are interested in joining our mailing list to receive our news.
